Gandhi Jayanti is the national holiday in our country India on IInd October. 2nd October is celebrated in honor of the birthday of the Father of the Nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapuji. 2 Oct. is celebrated as the international day of Non-Violence. Gandhi Ji was the preacher of Non-Violence. Bapuji is a symbol of peace and truth.

Indian Nationalist Leader Mahatma Gandhi(Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi), Father of the Nation,  was born on 2 Oct. 1869 in Porbandar (Gujrat), India. Mahatma Gandhi father’s name was Karamchand Gandhi and Mother’s name Putlibai Gandhi. Kasturba Gandhi, the wife of Mahatma Gandhi was a deeply religious woman who fasted regularly.

Gandhi Ji studied law in U.K. and he practiced law in South Africa. In his autography “My Experiments with Truth” Gandhiji described his childhood and teenage years. He got a marriage with Kasturba Makanji at the age of 13 and a sheer dedication for his motherland. Bapu has set an example of high thinking and simple living. He was against the addictions like drinking, smoking, and non-vegetarianism.

Mahatma Gandhi was a Leader of the Indian Independence movement against British rule, Employing nonviolent civil disobedience. Mahatma Gandhi led India to inspired movements and Independence and for civil rights and freedom around the world.

Gandhi Ji was a non-violence and pioneer of truth. Bapu Ji started ‘Satyagraha’ (non-violence) movement for the Indian freedom struggle.  He played a very noteworthy role in achieving independence for India from British rule. He proved to the world, the freedom can be achieved through the path of total non-violence(Ahinsa).

The special event, Gandhi Jayanti, 2 Oct. is organized at Raj Ghat, New Delhi where Mahatma Gandhiji was cremated. Peoples do prayers, pay homage and sing Gandhiji favorite song “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram…”

In 1890 in a speech, in South Africa, Mahatma Gandhi Said This:

“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption of our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider of our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so.”
